Hello everyone…..again. My post got taken down yesterday (guess I should read the rules). However, I was having such a good time talking to everyone, I figured I’d try again.
I recon I should take this time to tell a little bit more about our off grid project.
My wife (Kelsey) and I bout this land with the intention of setting up an off grid homestead and regenerative farm. When we got here it was completely woods. We spent about a month clearing the land to frame a house. Originally we wanted to do an earthship, and then we evolved our plans into a timberframe style, but wanted to have somewhere to stay while we built. That’s where the Dutchman came in.
It was to our understanding when we bought the thing (for $500) that it was ready to live in, just needed a little cleaning……not the case. Not that it mattered anyway because we beat it up so bad getting it down here. So this is where we are. I wasn’t going to have a beat down camper on our land without giving it the proper love. So we ripped out sections and fixed sections, and ripped out more sections, and in and on.
My wife and I both have a colorful past, and about 8 years ago we weren’t amounting to much, let’s say. So our journey in recovery and into sustainability seems to not only necessary, but natural at this point. I know I for one have begun to see this broke down duchman as kind of a metaphor for myself.
Anyway…we are powering this operation with 6, soon to be 12, 200 watt solar modules, two 3300w output solar generators, 330 Gallon rain bucket and of course that big sawmill. I hope you enjoy. We would love to hear what you think
